Introduction Of The Journal
Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health Research aims to focus on local and international contents involving a wide range of research, case reports and industries updates in optometry, eye, and health research covering the entire fields of optometry, vision sciences, medical and health sciences such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, clinical psychology, medical imaging, ophthalmology, vision science, nutrition, forensic sciences, optometry, pharmacology, physiology, public health, health management and system, health care delivery, health economic, practice management, occupational safety and health, health policy, food and nutritional science, behavioral optometry, health education and sports vision. It will also cover about the biology of an animal and environment ecosystem related to human health, with an emphasis given to natural biology and systematic planetary determinants.

Focus and Scope
Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health research (JOEHR) will publish original articles in Malay and English covering the entire fields of medical and health sciences such as in optometry, eye, and health research covering the entire fields of optometry, vision sciences, medical and health sciences such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, clinical psychology, medical imaging, ophthalmology, vision science, nutrition, forensic sciences, optometry, pharmacology, physiology, public health, health management and system, health care delivery, health economic, practice management, occupational safety and health, health policy, food and nutritional science, behavioral optometry, health education and sports vision. Peer Review Process

Review Process
The manuscripts are sent to two reviewers and the review comments are solicited within a period of 3-4 weeks. The authors are conveyed about the decision on the manuscript and if there is a chance of resubmission with corrections, the authors are being given a maximum time period of one month. Failure to comply with reviewers’ comments may result in rejection.

Publication Frequency
Starting from April 2019, this journal will publish its issues in April and September.

Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Our journal offers an open access articles, which is under the Creative Common license type: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA).

Research in Optometry, Eye and Health Sciences
The primary purpose of this journal is to act as a platform for publication of research work and clinical work in Optometry, Eye and health sciences that are conducted by researchers in this country as well as in other countries in the South East Asian region and beyond.

Indexing and abstracting

Publication Code of Ethics: For Authors, Reviewers and Editors
This is the statement of ethics for Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health Research, published by CEDEC Training, MSU. This statement was adapted from the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and covers code of ethics for chief editor, editorial board members, reviewers and authors. The journal publication code of ethics has been designed to safeguard the integrity of the journal and to ascertain that all published materials are of the highest scientific and ethical standard. Authors, editors and reviewers can use these guidelines in their tasks and duties. Any ethical issue and question, which concerns JOEHR, can be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief. This code of ethics applies to manuscripts submitted to the journal. The editorial board of JOEHR revises this code of ethics from time to time.

6.0 CITATION
Work and/or words from other publications must be appropriately cited or quoted. Submitted manuscripts should not contain citations whose primary purpose is to increase the number of citations of a particular author, or to articles published in a particular journal. Such practices will incur citation manipulation sanctions.

7.0 REPORTING
Authors should state their results clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation. The methods used in the work should be clearly and unambiguously described so that the findings can be repeated and confirmed by other researchers.

8.0 CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
A statement on conflict of interest must be included in the manuscript if authors receive any support that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

9.0 AUTHORSHIP AND COLLABORTION
Name of authors listed in a paper should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the report. Only those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the work must be acknowledged or listed as contributors. It is the duty of the corresponding author to ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper. All co-authors must approve the final version of the paper and agree to the version of the paper before submission.

10.0 MULTIPLE OR REDUNDANT
10.1 Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research output in more than one journal or primary publication. A similar manuscript should not be submitted to more than one journal concurrently as this constitutes as unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

10.2 JOEHR does not accept any submission of manuscript that has been published in full in a conference proceeding. This is because novelty is an important criterion for articles published in JOEHR. The Editor-in-Chief may consider unpublished work that has been presented in part in any forum, particularly if the circulation of the proceedings is limited. Authors must clarify during submission the significant material that was added in the manuscript that was not included in the proceedings. The proceedings must be properly cited in the submitted manuscript.

11.0 SANCTIONS
In the event that there are documented violations of any of the above-mentioned policies, the following sanctions will be applied:

11.1 Outright rejection of the manuscript.

11.2 Outright rejection of every other manuscript submitted to any journal published by CEDEC Training MSU by any of the authors of the submitted manuscript.

11.3 Prohibition against all of the authors for any new submissions to any journal published by CEDEC Training MSU, either individually or in combination with other authors of the infringing manuscript, as well as in combination with any other authors. This prohibition will be imposed for a minimum of 24 months.

11.4 In addition, the publisher reserves the right to impose additional sanctions beyond those described above whenever appropriate.

12.0 HUMAN, ANIMAL SUBJECTS AND BIOETHICS
12.1 Works involving chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use must be clearly identified in the manuscript. The relevant ethics committee must approve the works involving experiments on live vertebrates and/or higher invertebrates. Authors must confirm that all experiments were performed in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations issued by the relevant ethics committee.

12.2 When human subjects are involved, manuscripts must be accompanied by a statement that the experiments were undertaken with the understanding and written consent of each subject. Authors should be aware of the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki), which has been published in the British Medical Journal (18 July 1964).

12.3 When experimental animals are used, the methods section must clearly indicate that adequate measures were taken to minimize pain or discomfort. Experiments should be carried out in accordance with the European Communities Council Directive of 24 November 1986 (86/609/EEC) or with the Guidelines laid down by the NIH in the US regarding the care and use of animals for experimental procedures or according to the appropriate Ethics Committee on Animal Experimentation. All studies using human or animal subjects should include an explicit statement in the Methods section identifying the review and approval committee for each study.

12.4 Editors reserved the right to reject the submitted manuscripts if there is doubt whether appropriate procedures have been taken.

REVIEW PROCESS
Manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editorial Board and at least one independent referee. Decisions regarding the publication of a manuscript will be based on the Board's recommendations. The manuscript will be evaluated based on its appropriateness for Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health Research, contribution to the discipline, cogency of analysis, conceptual breadth, clarity of presentation and technical adequacy. Manuscripts submitted by members of the journal's Editorial Board are subjected to the same review procedure.

One set of proofs will be sent to the author(s) to be checked for printing errors and it is the responsibility of the author(s) to submit corrections to the Editorial Board.

Journal History
Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health Research (JOEHR) is a continuation of publication of students’ research projects in Optometry and Vision Science. In 2018, a compilation of research abstract book was launch to celebrate the 10th Years Optometry and Vision Science, Faculty of Health and Life Science, Management and Science University. The first issue of JOEHR will be published in line with the inaugural Congress of Optometry and Vision Research on 15-17th March 2019. JOEHR was founded in March 2019 to serve as the main Malaysian journal, publishing original articles in the broad area of Optometry, Eye and health sciences towards the multidisciplinary in medical and health science fields including healthcare, rehabilitation and diagnostic and applied health sciences. The first Editor-In-Chief after the change of title was Associate Professor Dr Mohd Zaki Awg Isa. JOEHR will be published its first issue in April 2019 (Vol. 1 2019). This inaugural publication of JOEHR contained 10 scientific multidiscipline Optometry, Eye and Health Science articles authored by researchers from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) as well as from other research institutions as well as international researchers. JOEHR publishes original research, case reports, theoretical papers, reviews, short communications, descriptions of new methods, book reviews and letters to the editor.
